!You should know I MAKE ALBUMS! I have been making albums for years but am currently working on my formal degree in Graphic Design with an emphasis in Photography, to make it official I guess! You've heard it before, Im gonna say it again but its important to print these images. In the digital age and the attention span it creates it can be tempting to post a few images on a social media platform, save the images on your computer and move on. But.... you gotta print your images! You need to remember your story! I am one of those photographers who will edit and send you an overwhelming amount of images. I can't NOT give you all your images. They are just all so special to me and Im hoping they are special to you. They tell this expansive story of your wedding day. From the small details to the posed formals, to the candid moments and not to candid moments its a whole story but I understand the amount of information in this story can be overwhelming. An album is such a beautiful and perfect way to tell the story. Here's how I approach the project with you! First I ask you to create a favorites list of your must have photos. I usually ask for you to start with around 30 images, but if that list expands further or is smaller NO WORRIES, I got you! The next step is when I fill in the gaps. I take your favorite photos and build around them to fill in the story. I will make sure those formals of you and your family make it in there and use those details shots creatively. Basically I round out the album to tell the story and create layouts. Then I will send it over to you for your review. Here you can give me your thoughts, redlines, changes you'd like to make, etc. and this process can repeat (3 free reviews) so it really is a creative process between you and me! Then we pick the album cover and debossing colors and text. From there we send it off to the printer and it ships directly to you! It really is a fairly painless (dare i say fun!) process and you will have a cherished keepsake you will be looking back on for years and years. These really become heirlooms and I am so proud to offer them! You can order albums at any time, it really makes a great way to mark an anniversary so if I shot your wedding in the past and you didn't initially purchase an album, have no fear! send me a message and lets get the process started! Doan & Mai 50th Anniversary THE ALBUM!12.28.2023Happy Anniversary to this sweet couple! Married at the Tendue in the Ford Building (portland Oregon) this small intimate wedding was just as sweet as the couple, I just love a couple that gets ready together. Its so sweet to spend those moments of anticipation together and honestly I still cant get over that emerald Wedding dress! Please enjoy these Wedding pictures :) I love being a Wedding Photographer because its a little bit of so many types of photography. Its documentary, its details and macro photography, its lifestyle. I love the mixture of posed and candid shots. I am always trying to get a little better at the candids, it can be challenging to put the people around you at ease. Its a unique balance of being personable and social with wedding guests but also being a fly on the wall and letting everything happen around you but not interfere. Ive listened to so many lectures on different photographers approaches to how to do this, Ive done intense planning, I've winged it. Ive tried so many approaches and I honestly can say its just takes practice. Heres to so much more practice in 2024!!! A beautiful Wedding ceremony at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Milwaukie Oregon followed by a bright reception at the Bell Tower Chapel in Boring Oregon. A ton more photos of this amazing event, just click that read me ..... :)
Surrounded by wild flowers guests gathered outside the Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks & Minerals. On this warm July day Kendra & Derek dash around, straightening place tags and ceremony chairs. They are about the get married and Steven and I were there to capture it. The CeremonyOfficated by a dear friend of the couple this ceremony was a beautiful celebration of family and love. Kendra looked amazing in her thrifted Wedding dress (LOVE) and Derek looked dashing in his forest green jacket and amazing bolo tie. The wild flowers even sprout from the ground in celebration. Wedding PortraitsAfter the ceremony we took Kendra and Derek on a walk around the Property. It is truly a beautiful space with open feilds and wooded areas and trails throughout. We wondered and stopped to take pictures every few minutes. I cant describe how wonderful it is to spend so much time right after a wedding ceremony with a couple. Watching the prep-ceremony anxiety and jitters fade and the blissful glee take over is amazing. I truly cherish this time and these moments I get to capture for these couples. Such a thrill. Also a thrill, seeing two garden snakes in the grass, that must be some kind of good wedding luck, I AM SURE OF IT! Ring Details Shots!Another favorite moment durning a wedding is durning the reception, while you are enjoying your food, I will ask you for your rings. You don't really want photos of you eating anyways! Ill take the rings for maybe 5-10 mins, pull out my macro lens and wander around the reception site looking for the perfect tiny photo locations. Lucky me at the Rice Rock and Mineral Museum there were so many cool options. Seeing as these rings are minerals it just worked perfect! The grass, the crystals, the wood and the MOSS! Just yummy pretty! enjoy.... I have said it a million times, and I'll say it a million more times, ALL WEDDINGS ARE SO UNIQUE, and that's why I love Wedding Photography so much. I get to meet so many new people and see so many unique ways to celebrate and love. Its really so special. At this particular wedding in the yard of a historical home turned museum Metal music was pumped through the speakers. Wild flowers were scattered everywhere, in all kinds of vases, new and antique. The Brides dress was a thrifted find that fit like a glove and needed next to no alternations (if thats not magic I don't know what is!) The wildflowers were the perfect pop of color contrasting the rocks and minerals around the museum. I love all the earthy elements of this wedding. As down to earth as charming as the couple. When Kendra brought Derek to Oregon for the first time she immediately brought him to the Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks & Minerals. There shared love for science made this the perfect site for their first date in Oregon. Now a year later they had there wedding on the site of this memorable first date. Made so much more memorable now that it is the site of their wedding, were they said 'I do". If you like my work and want me to be a part of your wedding day contact me here! November 26th 2022, surrounded by their 5 children and their families Doan and Mai celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary by renewing their vows. After hundreds o f weddings, how special to be a part of this anniversary. As everyone sat down for dinner a slideshow of their life together played. Watching everyone giggle, laugh and talk over old memories it dawned on me exactly how special this occasion was. Paired down because of Covid this celebration was small but no one but Doan & Mai were there on the Wedding Day. These people that surrounded them now were direct results of the love and commitment they made to each other and now they celebrate. It was just so profound and beautiful. I will never forget being a fly on the wall durning this celebration, forever honored. If you like my work and want me to be a part of your wedding day contact me here!
